CAV parody

Hello everyone and welcome to the trials and tribulations of a sportaholic. Was it just me or yesterday was probably the most intriguing day of sports! You had Tiger and that crimson shirt bogey on 17th, which totally screwed him over. You also had the Cavaliers dominate the Garnett less Celtics, which is a mediocre team without him anyway. Finally you got your usual baseball games during the day. But let me get into the NBA and its parody.

The NBA this year is probably an indication of the future of where the league is going. First of all the Cleveland Cavs have a roster that is finally up to championship par, unlike that 2007 team that had Damon "I just shoot" Jones or Larry "I'll never be Scottie" Hughes. This '09 team have two legit scorers in Moe Williams and Delonte West, while having a supporting cast that is adequate to play some intense defense. The Cavs are ready for a big run this playoffs but I just don't think their Big Men can stop the ogres the Lakers have. Sure, the Cavs have the best defense but when there is 2 mintues left in the game can Anderson "side show bob" contain Gasol or Garnett?

On another note, Does anyone remember when the Cavs of the early 90s were the laughing stock of the league? Do you guys remember Ricky Davis, Trajan Langdon, Shawn Kemp, Wesley Person, and anyone on those rosters? I still remember when Cleveland was the team on the NBA live no one wanted to use because 1. they had some ugly jerseys 2. they had no one we knew. It was never fun to post up with Big Z just because he had a rating of 80, which automatically made him the best player, while your friends had "Player 99", the Michael Jordan equivalent dunking all over you. Well what I'm trying to say on this inaugural post is that just as a screwed up franchise can demolish there chances year after year with brain dead players (ie Clippers), a franchise can rise up from the ashes and draft a once in a lifetime player like Lebron. So God bless the Cleveland Cavs for putting up with those ugly 90's jerseys, getting players like Shawn Kemp, and never winning anything because in the end they have a chance to redeem all those mistakes with the beautiful Larry O'brien Trophy! Now all they need is a better mascot or maybe free beer fridays!
